5 Birdville Independent Schl District Publicatins, Vide, Internet Cnsent and Release Agreement Students wh attend schl in the Birdville Independent Schl District are ccasinally asked t be a part f schl and/r District publicity, publicatins and/r public relatins activities. In rder t guarantee student privacy and ensure yur agreement fr yur student t participate, the District asks that yu and the student sign and return this frm t the schl fr each f yur children. 6 BISD Drill Team Auditin Scring Breakdwn Dance Ability 100 pints per judge X 3 judges = 300 pssible pints Pints will be rewarded fr technique, shwmanship, memry, and flexibility Academics Students wh have received a 70 average r abve in all classes fr T1, T2, T3, and T4 will be rewarded 10 pints twards their verall scre. Students wh have received belw a 70 average in ne class in any f the grading perids thrugh T4 will receive 7 pints twards their verall scre. Students wh have received belw a 70 average in tw classes in any f the grading perids thrugh T4 will receive 4 pints twards their verall scre. Students wh have received belw a 70 average in three r mre classes in any f the grading perids thrugh T4 will receive 0 pints tward their verall scre. Pre-AP Pre-Calculus and Advanced Placement curses will be exempt frm deductins ne time per class per UIL academic guidelines. Discipline Attendance A list f candidates will be prvided t administratin at each campus. Students receiving a mark fr N Reservatin will be rewarded 10 pints. Students receiving a mark fr Recmmend with Reservatin will be rewarded 5 pints. 7 Auditin Frmat Auditin Clinic Mnday 4/16 - Wednesday 4/18 4:30 t 6:30 pm - Students must wear slid black dance attire, n crp tps. - Hair shuld be secured and ut f the face - Students will cmplete warm up and cnditining exercises similar t a regular drill team practice - Students will learn a ballet cmbinatin as well as a Hip Hp/Pm cmbinatin - Students will review the traditinal "Victry Kick" rutine - it is highly recmmended that students learn this cmbinatin prir t the first day at the auditin clinic. Purpse The purpse f these rganizatins shall be t render service t the schl by maintaining and prmting schl spirit and prviding entertainment whenever requested in cperatin with schl and cmmunity activities. It shall als strive t develp qualities f leadership, cperatin, schlarship, sprtsmanship and high mral standards f cnduct. Article III. Membership Sectin 1. Eligibility A. Requirements fr membership a. Students auditining fr drill team must be entering grades b. Must meet district eligibility requirements published in the BISD Secndary Student Handbk c. Students selected fr membership must be a full time student f the prspective high schl. B. Team Fees must be paid fr prir t a date designated by the directr. If the bill remains unpaid, the member will be placed n prbatin and be ineligible t participate until payment is made. C. Lss f Membership- Membership may be lst if a student: a. Receives a third suspensin. b. Once remved, attendance at drill team functins will be prhibited. c. There are n refunds f fees paid fr members wh resign r are dismissed. Members wh resign r are dismissed are still respnsible fr utstanding balances if the items r services have already been prvided. Sectin 2. Grades A. BISD Drill Team Students will fllw UIL academic guidelines. B. A member failing t cmply with these requirements will be placed n prbatin accrding t UIL guidelines. a. Any prbatin shall include: i. N perfrmances; ii. N wearing f unifrms; iii. May nt travel with the team; b. Practice is required f the member n prbatin, unless decided therwise by the directr. Sectin 3. Methd f selectin fr membership A. During the wrkshp, which will be held prir t auditins, candidates will be taught material chsen by the directr B. An apprval t auditin must be signed by parents and returned t the directr befre the student will be allwed t participate in the wrkshp. G. Parents must read and sign an agreement stating that they have read the drill team cnstitutin and agree t abide by its rules. Sectin 4. Cmpsitin f the team A. Officers B. Line Members C. Managers/ Escrts (will abide by the same rules as dancing members, directrs may chse whether r nt they wish t have managers r escrts). Sectin 5. Rules f membership A. Practices a. All members are required t attend the designated class perid and practice sessins befre r after schl and ver the summer. Attendance is mandatry. b. Attendance at summer camp is mandatry. c. Members will dress in designated clthes fr all practice sessins. d. When a member is absent, it is their duty t find ut what they has missed and be prepared fr the fllwing day. (Includes material rehearsed and annuncements and reminders) e. Any student missing a practice prir t a perfrmance can be remved frm the perfrmance at the discretin f the directr. B. Perfrmances a. All perfrmances/activities must be attended. Any member wh des nt perfrm must be present and in designated unifrm. b. Members must be present at schl half the day (3 perids) n the day f the game r perfrmance. c. Members must travel t and frm any activity n transprtatin apprved by the schl district. d. Student participatin in perfrmances and frmatins are at the discretin f the directr. e. The directr must apprve all unifrms, drills, dances, and activities. Article IV. Unifrms A. Each member is respnsible fr the care f all unifrms and accessries issued. B. The schl district will prvide the basic items f the fficial field unifrm fr each member C. Drill Team members may receive a letter jacket if: a. They are in gd standing, n their secnd year as a varsity member b. They are in gd standing, and spent ne year n JV and are nw n varsity c. Dance Students maybe receive a letter jacket if they are in gd standing and have participated in dance and/r JV drill team fr all fur years at a BISD schl. D. The unifrm r any part f it is nt t be wrn unless authrized by the directr. E. Unifrms will be inspected fr neatness at all appearances. F. In any unifrm hair is t be wrn as directed by the directr. G. When in unifrm, jewelry r nail plish shall nt be wrn withut special permissin. H. Members shall nt eat r drink in unifrm unless authrized by the directr. I. When a field unifrm and ther schl issued cstumes are returned, they must be cleaned as specified by the directr, at the cst f the student. J. Members will nt lan ut their drill team clthing t anyne fr any reasn.

11 K. Changes t physical appearance including, but nt limited t, hairstyles and piercings must be crdinated with the dance instructr prir t any alteratin. Article V. Attendance A. Excused absences will be granted nly fr illness, death in the family, r extenuating circumstances as apprved in advance by the directr. B. If it becmes necessary fr a member t be absent frm practice r a perfrmance fr any reasn, she must ntify the directr prir t the absence. Failure t d s will result in an unexcused absence. C. In the event f illness, death in the family, r emergency, the Directr must receive a written excuse frm a parent the first day the student is back. Failure t d s will cause the absence t be an unexcused absence. D. A member wh is able t cme t schl but is unable t participate in a practice due t illness shuld bring a nte frm her parent. This nte will be hnred fr ne (1) day nly. Tw (2) r mre days will require a dctr s excuse r recmmendatin frm the campus trainer fr nnparticipatin. The student will dress ut in the required unifrm. E. A member is cnsidered tardy if she is nt in her designated lines when rll call starts. This includes class, practices, pre-game and perfrmances. F. Any member wh has a jb is expected t arrange their wrk schedule arund their practice and perfrmance schedule. Wrk is nt an excused absence. G. Dctr s visits shuld be scheduled arund the practice and perfrmance schedule. H. If a student must miss practice fr academic tutrials, they must prvide the directr with a signed pass frm the academic teacher. Article VI. Officer Tryuts A. Requirements and Respnsibilities a. Dance fficers and scial fficers will help assist the directr as she sees fit and within reasn. Specific duties are utlined and discussed fllwing auditins. All rules and regulatins in the drill team cnstitutin apply t fficers. b. Each Officer and Officer Candidate must have high schlastic standing and have prven herself in leadership, character, reliability and attitude. c. Officers must maintain a minimum f an verall C average in all classes. d. Officers and Officer Candidates must never have been placed n team prbatin fr any reasn. e. Officers will help enfrce rules and regulatins utlined in this cnstitutin. B. Auditin Prcess a. Officer tryuts will be held in the spring. b. Each candidate must be a sphmre, junir r senir fr the fllwing schl year, and have been a member f the team the year preceding tryuts. c. Each candidate must perfrm a variety f assignments as designated by the directr. d. The judges and the directr will determine the number f fficers. e.
