RECREATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM--Virqua Parks and Recreatin Department has a schlarship prgram in place fr participants within the Virqua Schl District. Arbr Day Clring Cntest Help us celebrate Arbr Day by participating in ur 2 nd Annual Arbr Day clring cntest! Stp by the Park and Rec ffice r visit ur website t get yur clring sheet. All entries must be returned t the Park and Rec ffice by Wednesday, April 25 th. Winners will be annunced n Arbr Day April 27th. Categries include Pre-K/Kindergarten, 1 st /2 nd, and 3 rd /4 th grades. Prizes will be awarded t the tp three winners in each categry.

4 3 rd ANNUAL PITCH HIT RUN COMPETITION Sctts Majr League Baseball PITCH HIT RUN prvides yungsters acrss the cuntry an pprtunity t participate in an exciting baseball/sftball skills cmpetitin. There are tw separate divisins: baseball and sftball. This event is intended t encurage yuth participatin and emphasize the FUN element f baseball/sftball. Since there is NO registratin fee, everyne has the pprtunity t participate. There are fur levels f cmpetitin Lcal, Sectinal, Team Champinship, and Natinal Finals. The 1 st place All-Arund Pitching, Hitting, and Running Champins in each age divisin advance t the Sectinal Cmpetitin. Last year, Drew Frtney advanced all the way t the Team Champinship where he cmpeted at Miller Park! The prgram includes three levels f cmpetitin, with tp perfrmers frm the Lcal level advancing t Reginals, and ultimately, the Natinal Finals. Prgram meets at Park Bwl Baseball Field r pavilin n Mnday and Wednesday mrnings frm 9:00-9:30 a.m. $15/City Resident and $20/Nn-Resident Tt Ball Ages 4-5 Prgram Cde: TBALL This is a fun way t teach the fundamentals f baseball and sftball t yunger children. Participants in Tt Ball will spend mst f their time practicing the fundamentals like thrwing, catching, running bases, and mre. There will be sme scrimmaging dne at the end f the seasn. Tt Ball will meet at Ebbets Ball Field n Mnday and Wednesday mrnings frm 10:30-11:30 a.m. $20/City Resident and $25/Nn-Resident U8 Sftball Ages 6-8 Prgram Cde: U8SB U8 Sftball players will learn the fundamentals f sftball and learn mre situatinal sftball. This prgram meets n Mnday and Wednesday mrnings where there is a large-grup fundamentals practice at 8:30 a.m. at Park Bwl with games beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Ebbets, Pl, r Park Bwl ball fields. Busing is prvided frm fundamentals practice t game fields if needed. Participants will have a chance t hit by the cach pitching r ff a tee. Playffs will begin n July 18 th with Champinship game n July 25 th. $30/City Resident and $35/Nn-Resident Little League Ages 9-12 Prgram Cde: LL Little League is live baseball where the participants pitch t each ther. This prgram meets n Tuesday and Thursday mrnings where there is a large-grup fundamentals practice at 8:30 a.m. at Park Bwl with games beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Ebbets, Pl, r Park Bwl ball fields. Busing is prvided frm fundamentals practice t game fields if needed. Playffs will begin n July 19 th with Champinship game n July 25 th. Participants must be n lder than 12 years ld by June 1, 2018, t play. $30/City Resident and $35/Nn-Resident Tennis BEGINNER: Fr new players r thse with little experience. Lessns teach basic ftwrk, grip, frehand, and backhand strkes, gd sprtsmanship, rules, and tennis etiquette. Play fun games and increase self-cnfidence as tennis techniques develp. BEGINNER 1: Fr new r briefly expsed players. Class cvers the same skills as beginner level, but mves at a faster pace fr lder students. INTERMEDIATE: Fr players wh have cmpleted the beginner class r have previus expsure. Emphasis is placed n further develpment f strkes. ADVANCED: This is a skill develpment class fr players wh are already cmfrtable with the basic shts f tennis, and wh can play matches. 6 Glf This prgram will prvide instructin t imprve n the fundamentals and enjyment f glf. Instructin will wrk n preswing skills such as grip, aim, and psture. In-swing skills like club path, time, and balance will be addressed, as well as shrt game skills like chipping, pitching, and putting. A selectin f clubs will be available. Glfers will have an pprtunity t participate in a glf uting at the prgram end at Virqua Hills. Sccer meets n Mnday evenings in the Pl and Ebbets baseball field utfields. Participants shuld plan t bring their wn sccer ball and water. Cleats and shin guards are nt required, but are encuraged fr ages 9 and up. $30/City Resident and $35/Nn-Resident Prgram Cde Ages 5-6 4:00-5:00 p.m. Size 3 Ball SOCCER1 Ages 7-8 5:00-6:00 p.m. Size 4 Ball SOCCER2 Ages :00-7:00 p.m. Size 4 Ball SOCCER3 Ages :00-8:00 p.m. Size 5 Ball SOCCER4 Cheerleading Camp This class will teach the basics f cheerleading in a relaxed atmsphere as they wrk n rutines thrughut the summer. This prgram will run Mnday, August 6 th thrugh Thursday, August 9th in the Virqua High Schl Gym frm 9:00-11:00 a.m. $20 (Nt part f the Family Rate) Vlleyball Camp Prgram Cde: VBALL2 This is an all-skills vlleyball camp fr ages that will excite players abut the fun cmpetitin f vlleyball and the imprtance f team play. Players will develp fundamental skills including serving, passing, setting, and hitting. This camp will run frm Mnday, August 6th thrugh Thursday, August 9th frm 9:00-11:45 a.m. at the Virqua High Schl Gymnasium. $30 (Nt part f Family Rate) SPECIAL EVENTS Outdr Explrers Prgram Cde: EXPLORE We are ging n an adventure in Eckhart Park and wuld lve fr yur child t jin us t be an Outdr Explrer n Friday, June 22 nd frm 10:00-11:15 a.m. We will take a hike arund the park, have a scavenger hunt, make an utdr-themed craft, and play ther utdr games. This adventure will meet at the Eckhart Park Pavilin and is pen t ages 4-8.
