TONIGHT'S GAME: LHP Madison Bumgarner is the Giants' Opening Day starter for the second year in a row...the 2014 World Series MVP posted an record last season with a 2.98 ERA in 33 starts...including the postseason, Bumgarner logged innings, the most of any pitcher in the big leagues last season...rhp Josh Collmenter will make his first career Opening Day start...he pitched out of the bullpen and out of the rotation, but served almost exclusively as a starter last season, going 10-9 with a 3.54 ERA. A NEW SEASON: The 2015 season will mark the Giants' 133rd season overall and 58th in San Francisco. Was also SF's Opening Day starter last season. Finished Spring Training going 0-3 with a 3.70 ERA (10er, 24.1ip), 29 strikeouts and two walks in seven starts (one at minor league camp). Posted one of the best seasons of his career last year, going with a 2.98 ERA and 219 strikeouts, a record for a San Francisco left-handed pitcher. Had career highs in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts last season, while fashioning the second-lowest ERA of his career for a full season. Won the Eastern League batting title last season, hitting.332 with 53 runs scored, 24 doubles and 62 RBI in 97 games for Richmond. Received his first big league call-up on Aug. 1 last season and hit.267 in 34 games. Made the Giants' posteason roster in 2014 and in eight games he hit.167. Was voted the 2015 Barney Nugent award winner in a vote by his teammates, coaches and training staff. The award is named in honor of Giants' former athletic trainer, Barney Nugent, who worked for the Club from this award is given in recognition of the player in his first big league camp whose performance and dedication in Spring Training best exemplifies the SF Giants spirit.

Made the SFs roster as a non-roster invitee. Had one of the best springs of any SF player, hitting.347 (25-for-72) with two HRs and 15 RBI (tied Duffy for team lead) in 27 games. Hit just.219 (7-for-32) with three RBI in his first 13 spring games, but hit.450 (18-for-40) with 12 RBI in his last 14 spring contests.
