Central with a week to play...the win also gave the Royals a 1 1/2-game lead in the Wild Card race over Seattle after the M s lost in Houston...for the first time in the Detroit series, KC struck early, scoring single tallies in the first and second, but the Tigers tied it with matching runs in the third and fourth... the Royals then reassumed the lead in the home half of the fourth when Nori Aoki capped a phenomenal week with a 2-run triple...the first-year Royal finished the week hitting.636 (14-for-22) with a pair of double and a triple...jeremy Guthrie earned his 12th win of the year with 5.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits...the trifecta of Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis and Greg Holland combined for the final 3.2 innings, retiring 11 of the 12 hitters they faced, striking out five...billy Butler, Eric Hosmer and Alcides Escobar each had a pair of hits to aid KC s 11-hit attack...the win closed out the home slate with a ledger. SUSPENDED GAME RESUMPTION--The upcoming road trip will begin with the resumption of the August 31 suspended game with a 6:05 first pitch in Progressive Field (5:05 Kansas City time) tomorrow night...the game will resume with Kansas City coming to bat in the bottom of the 10th inning, trailing 4-2, with Mike Moustakas scheduled to face reliever Kyle Crockett...the Indians plated a pair of unearned runs in the top of the 10th just prior to the storm s arrival...all players on both expanded rosters are eligible to participate in the game resumption unless they ve already been removed from the contest. ESKY LOVING LEADOFF--Alcides Escobar was moved to the top of the batting order on September 13 and has responded by hitting.382 (13-for-34) from the leadoff position in the last eight games, with three doubles, a home run and five runs scored...he collected his 33rd double of the year yesterday to tie the most two-base hits by a Kansas City shortstop since Jose Offerman had 33 in Kurt Stillwell holds the team mark for a shortstop with 35 in FINAL STOP IN CHICAGO--The Royals will closeout the 162-game slate with a 4-game visit to U.S. Cellular Field starting Thursday night...kc is 10-5 vs. the ChiSox this year, including a 5-1 mark in Chicago...Kansas City wrapped up the 2013 schedule by taking three of four in the Windy City.
