THE RIVALRY IS NATURAL: Today marks the third of four games this season between the Padres and Mariners as part of Major League Baseball s Interleague Natural Rivalry Series...the Padres and Mariners will played the first two games of this series (Monday-Tuesday) at Safeco Field in Seattle and will play the second half of the set (Today and Tomorrow) at Petco Park in San Diego. Overall, the Padres own a all-time record against the Mariners, but own a 7-5 mark against the M s since the start of the 2012 season. 2 TODAY S STARTER RHP - Andrew Cashner #34 TO OPEN: The 27-year-old is scheduled to make his 12th start of the season today and his seventh of the season at home. Took the loss in his last outing on June 13 at New York-NL after he allowed four runs on eight hits with two walks and fi ve strikeouts over 6.0 IP. Previous to his start on June 13, was on the disabled list for 14 games with right elbow soreness starting on May 17 (retro May 15). Threw a one-hit, complete game shutout in his third start on April 11 vs. DET, during which he set a new career-high in strikeouts (11). Made his fi rst career Opening Night start on March 30 vs. LAD (ND, 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R/ER, 5 SO, 1 BB).
