2 The 2012 Rckwall Yuth Fair was a HUGE Success! The 2012 Rckwall Yuth Fair was held March at the RISD Ag. Center n Riding Club Rad. Everyne is t be cmmended fr all f the hard wrk that was put in thrughut the year leading up t the big achievement event. As yu start setting gals fr next year, take sme time t evaluate yur prgress frm last year r at least frm the beginning f yur prject this year. Remember yur success is nt determined by hw well yu placed, but by yur increased knwledge alng the way. Yu shuld be able t apply things yu learned in yur prject t everyday life, such as, hw t wrk cperatively with thers, helping thers, teaching new members the rpes and being a gd neighbr. The District 4 H Hrse Shw will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19th and 20th, at the Hpkins Cunty Civic Center in Sulphur Springs, TX. Remember, yu must shw at District t be eligible t enter the State Hrse Shw! Prime Time, cmpleted grades 5-8, July Prime Time, cmpleted grades 2-5, July This camp is designed especially fr yuth ages 9-13 with pprtunities t meet new friends, develp new skills, and learn hw t wrk with thers. Hrizns-July 3-7! This new camp is geared fr yuth that have cmpleted grades 4-8. This fur day, three night camp fcuses arund prject enhancement, career explratin, and persnal/prfessinal develpment. Participants chse their fcus area where they will receive apprximately 16 hurs f instructin and intrductin t careers in the field. Each wrkshp is limited t 20 yuth and are filled n a first cme, first served basis. Evening activities are geared twards prfessinal develpment and wrkfrce preparatin, and f curse, camp recreatin and games! Dances each night! Prject fcused wrkshps n: Natural Resurces, Rbtics, Culinary Arts, Creative Leadership, Clthing & Textiles, Dg Prject Cngratulatins t Brke Peters fr signing up fr this camp! The headquarters fr Texas 4-H Cngress will be at the Sheratn Htel, 707 East 11th Street, Austin, Texas Texas 4-H Cngress is a fur-day mck legislative experience fr 4-H members ages 15 (at the time f the event) t 18. During this time, the 4-H members assume the rles f senatrs, representatives, lbbyists, press crps, and special interest grups t gain a first-hand understanding f hw the legislative prcess wrks. Bills that are written and spnsred by 4-H members fcus n issues cncerning Texas and Texas yuth. These bills are assigned t the apprpriate cmmittee and then debated in cmmittee meetings and then n the flr f the Huse r Senate. If a bill is successful in negtiatin and the legislative debate in all three stages, it is delivered t the Gvernr f the Texas 4-H Cngress fr his r her signature r vet. Cpies f all the bills that are signed int law during Texas 4-H Cngress are prvided t the Office f Gvernr Rick Perry fr his review. There is a quta fr the amunt a members that may attend per District. If Huse/Senate registratins exceed ur district quta, the district 4-H leadership team will select individuals t represent District IV. The decisin will be based upn age, years in 4-H, quality f bill submitted, recmmendatins frm his/her Cunty Extensin Agent, and prir participatin (preference will be t thse wh have never participated). The remaining delegates abve ur quta will be placed n an alternate list. Shuld there be penings after the initial deadline, thse alternate individual s registratins will then be accepted. New rules fr event registratin: Beginning in the H year, a late entry extensin will ensue fr a twday time perid starting at 12:01 AM immediately fllwing the standard district deadline. This extensin will nly apply t district-level cntests. Example: if the nrmal deadline is n Friday at midnight, late entry wuld pen at 12:01 AM n Saturday mrning and clse at midnight n Sunday. Fr entries placed during this late time perid, there will be an added late fee f $20 (in additin t the standard cntest fee). 8 Rckwall Cunty 4-H Gazette With the advancement f technlgy, budget crunches, and infrmatin n demand cncerns, the "Gazette" has mved t a cmputer based e-letter frmat. We will still send it ut at the beginning f dd mnths. It will be psted n the Cunty 4-H News Blg and club managers will still have sme hard cpies available at the club meetings if needed. This will allw mre time fr yu as a family t have discussins n needed items, and make infrmed decisins with mre lead time. We are excited abut this frmat and trust yu will be as well.
