1 Abut the Western Hardwd Assciatin (WHA) WHA is a nn-prfit assciatin with the missin f being an "Authritative resurce fr a sustainable, prfitable, and grwing Western hardwd industry." The assciatin was funded in 1955 t assist western US hardwds t a psitin f prminence in the manufacturing f fine furniture, cabinets and pallets. We have a diverse membership that includes sawmills, manufacturers, remanufacturers, pallet prducers, whlesalers, landwners, timber wners and service rganizatins (e.g., freight cmpanies, truckers, cnsultants, etc.). WHA represents all western hardwds, helping its members thrugh Educatin Prgrams, Netwrking, Plitical Supprt, Newsletters and ther industry specific prgrams WHA Schlarships THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD The WHA Schlarship award reflects the assciatin s cmmitment t prvide financial assistance t OSU and U f O students pursuing a career in the western hardwd and affiliated industries. The 2019 awards will cnsist f 2 schlarships fr up t $2,500 each. Additinal schlarships culd be awarded depending n the quality f the submissins. Schlarship awards are in the frm f checks made payable t the student. In additin t the schlarship awards, a list f the schlarship nminees will be distributed t all members f the WHA. These cmpanies will be encuraged t cnsider these nminees when making their summer and full-time hiring decisins. By submitting an applicatin, yu are distributing yur academic achievements and career aspiratins t mre than 200 cmpanies in the western hardwd and related industries. Applicants are encuraged t familiarize themselves with the WHA and learn f the many diverse career pprtunities the industry has t ffer.
