This year s event prmises t feature plenty f fun and cmpetitive spirit, all t raise mney and awareness fr the athletes f Special Olympics Suth Dakta! The Plane Pull will be held n Saturday, July 14 at Maverick Air Center in Siux Falls, SD. Pre- Registratin will be at Special Olympics Unify Center n Friday, July 13 th frm 5:00 pm 7:00 pm. Registratin will re-pen Saturday at 8:00 am at Maverick Air Center in the Sanfrd hanger fr thse wh culd nt make it Friday. An Opening Ceremny will fllw at 9:30 a.m., with cmpetitin set t kickff at 10:00 a.m. Free parking, including ADA, will be prvided that day at the airprt in three different lcatins. Registratin packets will include yur team members t-shirts and a vucher fr a free lunch fr each team member. Spectatrs are als strngly encuraged t attend and witness yur grup s mmentus feat! 3 Plane Pull Overview 2018 marks the first year fr this ultimate man versus machine challenge. This extreme and unique fundraising event pits teams f 10, plus 1 athlete, against a 70,000 lb. aircraft; all the while helping t raise funding and awareness fr Special Olympics Suth Dakta. While the Plane Pull attracts a diverse crss-sectin f peple, these participants all share an adventurus spirit, a generus heart and the desire t make a difference. This is als a great pprtunity fr yur grup t pull tgether fr a cmmn cause the athletes f Special Olympics Suth Dakta. It is undubtedly a team-building experience like n ther! Teams cnsist f a maximum f 10 members. If teams cannt fill their 10 spts n fear, we will have ur Special Olympics athletes help fill in the gaps! Grups cmpete t pull the plane 12 feet in the fastest amunt f time. Each team shuld cllect a minimum f $750 fr the privilege f cmpeting in this exclusive event all prceeds benefit Special Olympics Suth Dakta. The event is pen t the public and will als include entertainment, fd, an awards ceremny, n-site vehicle displays and an athlete area (prvided by Hme Dept) with varius activities. Spectatrs are strngly encuraged t attend and cheer n their favrite team! The Plane Pull is als a key part f law enfrcement s grassrts effrts t raise bth mney and awareness fr their charity f chice: Special Olympics. The Law Enfrcement Trch Run is the single largest year-rund fundraising vehicle benefitting Special Olympics. Each year, law enfrcement persnnel carry the Flame f Hpe alng planned rutes, cvering all crners f ur state. The highly emtinal Final Leg f the run invlves fficers running the Flame f Hpe, frm ne part f the state t its final destinatin the Opening Ceremnies f the Special Olympics Summer Games. This symblic running f the trch garners awareness fr their passinate partnership with Special Olympics. Officers als dedicate their time thrughut the year t hld numerus special events as part f the Trch Run initiative. In 2017, the Law Enfrcement Trch Run raised mre than $574,000 fr Special Olympics Suth Dakta thrugh a variety f fundraisers.
