Franmil Reyes propelled the Padres offence with his first-career multi-homer game. MEJÍA MOVES: Today, the Padres recalled C Francisco Mejía from El Paso (AAA)... Mejía will wear No. 27, and there are now 29 players on the active roster. AND THE PADRES' ROBERTO CLEMENTE NOMINEE IS...: The Padres have nominate LHP Clayton Richard for the Roberto Clemente Award...previously dubbed the "Commissioner's Award" in its establishment in 1971, it was renamed in 1973 after Roberto Clemente's tragic death on New Year's Eve, during a plane crash while attempting to deliver supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua...the award recognizes the player who best represents the game through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions. THE ROOKIE REVOLUTION: The Padres have seen 53 rookies get the start this season (54 including Joey Lucchesi's start tonight), which entering the game, rank second-most in the majors behind TB's 57 and MIA's 60. 2 STARTING PITCHER NOTES #37 LHP Joey Lucchesi (7-7, 3.59) joeyfuego23 IT'S JOEY TIME: 25-year-old Joey Lucchesi is set to make the 22nd start of his career and his fifth against the Arizona Diamondbacks...is in search of his first win against the D-Backs, having been tagged with the loss in each of his four outings against Arizona with a 7.71 ERA (16 ER, 18.2 IP). LAST TIME OUT: Improved to 7-7 after his last start on August 29 vs. SEA, setting career highs in innings pitched (6.2) and pitches thrown (108) in SD's 8-3 victory...also matched his career high with nine strikeouts (3x). GET TO 6.0: He has reached the 6.0 inning mark on five occasions...in those starts, he is 4-0 with a 1.17 ERA (4 er, 30.2 ip)...the Padres are 4-1 in those starts. OFF TO THE RACES: Is one of just 19 rookies to have reached the 20-start plateau in Padres franchise history... prior to Dinelson Lamet (2017) and Luis Perdomo (2016), the most recent Friar rookie arm to do so was Justin Germano in his 21 starts rank tied for fifth among rookies this season. SINCE YOU'VE BEEN BACK: In his 12 starts since being reinstated from the 10-day DL with a right hip strain on June 20, he is 4-5 with a 3.88 ERA (25 er, 58.0 ip), allowing two earned runs or less in nine of those 12 outings and holding opposing bats to a.249 clip.
