Na onal Anthem: DTE Singers RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the Orioles with a 13-8 win on Thursday a ernoon at Comerica Park. Detroit s offense had its best performance of the season, pounding out 13 runs on 18 hits. Jeimer Candelario was a perfect 4x4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI, while Leonys Mar n added three hits, including his first career grand slam. José Iglesias contributed three hits and three RBI in the win, and Miguel Cabrera also had three hits. Jordan Zimmermann started for the Tigers and picked up his first win of the season, allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings. The Tigers con nue their eight-game homestand today as they open a four-game series against the Kansas City Royals with a split doubleheader. Following this weekend s series vs. the Royals and an off day on Monday, the Tigers embark on a six-game road trip, which includes three games at Pi sburgh (April 24-26) and three games at Bal more (April 27-29). Gerber will wear #13. CANDY CRUSH: Jeimer Candelario reached base in all five plate appearances yesterday, going 4x4 with a run scored, a home run, three RBI and a walk. The performance was his first career four-hit game and marked his third consecu ve mul -hit game. Candelario has reached base safely in 11 of his last 13 plate appearances. Candelario enters today s game ed for the American League lead with two triples and ed for seventh with nine extra-base hits. MARTIN IS GRAND: Leonys Mar n belted his first career grand slam in the fi h inning of yesterday s game. It was the first grand slam by a Tiger since September 8, 2017 at Toronto, when Nicholas Castellanos hit a grand slam off Marcus Stroman. Mar n finished a double shy of the cycle yesterday, going 3x5 with three runs scored, a triple, a home run and four RBI. Mar n now has three three-hit games this season, which ranks ed for second in the American League. V-MART STAYS HOT: Victor Mar nez had a pair of hits, including a double and a RBI, in yesterday s game and has now reached base safely in 12 straight games. Over the 12-game stretch, Mar nez is hi ng.372 (16x43) with three runs scored, five doubles, one home run and nine RBI. The streak is ed for the fourth longest in the American League. RISP-Y BUSINESS: The Tigers were 8x17 with a double, a triple, two home runs and 13 RBI with runners in scoring posi on in yesterday s game. SWEEPS SEASON: The Tigers finished a three-game sweep of the Orioles yesterday, marking their second sweep of the season (other, at Chicago (AL) from April 5-8). It was Detroit s first sweep of Bal more at Comerica Park since July 5-7, All four of the Tigers series this season that have not been shortened due to weather have ended in sweeps.
