With the game ed 3-3 in the top of the ninth, Miguel Cabrera hit a two-out solo home run to put the Tigers in front to stay. Cabrera had three hits in the win, while Victor Mar nez finished the game going 4x4 with two RBI. James McCann also added a solo homer in the win, his sixth of the season. Bruce Rondon struck out the only ba er he faced in the eighth inning, stranding the go-ahead run at third base to pick up his fourth win. Jus n Wilson worked a perfect ninth inning to notch his first major league save. Michael Fulmer turned in a quality start for the Tigers, but did not factor into the decision a er allowing three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in 7.2 innings. The Tigers begin a nine-game homestand tonight with the first game of a three-game series vs. Houston. Following the series against the Astros and an off day on Monday, the homestand con nues with three games vs. Chicago (AL) (August 2-4) and three games vs. New York (NL) (August 5-7). OFFICIAL SCORING CHANGE: Following a review by the Elias Sports Bureau, a pair of scoring changes from Tuesday's game have been made. Of the three runs allowed by Kyle Ryan in the sixth inning, two of those runs have been charged as unearned runs, while one is earned. Originally, two runs were scored as earned runs and one as unearned. Addi onally, Jus n Upton was out in the ninth inning on a caught stealing, instead of a pickoff as originally scored. MIGGY BEING MIGGY: Miguel Cabrera hit a go-ahead solo home run with two outs in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead. It marked Cabrera's 14th career go-ahead home run in the ninth inning-or-later (last, 5/13/14 at Bal more). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the only other ac ve major league players with at least 14 go-ahead homers in the ninth inning-or-later are David Or z (19), Albert Pujols (17) and Adrian Beltre (14). The home run was also Cabrera's 429th career homer, tying him with Adrian Beltre for 47th in MLB history. V-MART'S FOUR-HIT DAY: Victor Mar nez reached base in all five plate appearances on Wednesday at Boston, going 4x4 with a walk. The performance marked Mar nez's third four-hit game of the season (last, 5/10 at Washington) and the 18th of his career. Mar nez has recorded at least one hit in five straight games and is ba ng.421 (8x19) with a run scored and four RBI during the streak. GETTING IGGY WITH IT: Jose Iglesias went 1x5 with a run scored and a double in Wednesday's game to extend his hi ng streak to seven games. Over the last seven games, Iglesias is ba ng.310 (9x29) with six runs scored, three doubles, one home run and four RBI. TIGERS TIDBITS: Jus n Wilson recorded the first save of his major league career on Wednesday at Boston, working a perfect ninth inning...james McCann hit a solo home run in the sixth inning on Wednesday. It marked his first home run since June 23 vs. Sea le. K-ROD NEARING 900 APPEARANCES: Francisco Rodriguez made the 899th appearance of his career on Tuesday at Boston, tying him with Sparky Lyle for the 25th most appearances by a pitcher in major league history. With nis next ou ng, Rodriguez will become the 25th pitcher in MLB history to appear in 900 games. MAYBIN RIGHT AT HOME AT COMERICA PARK: Cameron Maybin has enjoyed playing at Comerica Park this season. Maybin has hit safely in 25 of the 28 home games he has played in this season with at least one at-bat. Maybin is ba ng.398 (43x108) with 21 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, one home run and 14 RBI at Comerica Park this season. Since May 16, Maybin leads the American League with a.398 home ba ng average, while he is second with a.463 on-base percentage, ed for seventh with 43 hits and fourth with a.491 on-base percentage. RECAPPING THE ROAD TRIP: The Tigers went 5-2 on their seven-game road trip, going 2-2 at Chicago (AL) and 3-0 at Boston. JOE JIMENEZ PROMOTED TO TRIPLE A TOLEDO: The Tigers today have promoted righthanded pitcher Joe Jimenez from Double A Erie to Triple A Toledo. In 38 appearances this season between Erie and Single A Lakeland, Jimenez has a 3-2 record with 22 saves, a 1.18 ERA (38.0IP/5ER) and 62 strikeouts. TIGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH CESAR RAMOS ON MINOR LEAGUE CONTRACT: The Tigers today announced that they have agreed to terms with le handed pitcher Cesar Ramos on a minor league contract. Ramos has split me this season between the Texas Rangers and Triple A Round Rock. In 16 appearances, including four starts, with the Rangers, Ramos had a 3-3 record with a 6.04 ERA (47.2IP/32ER) and 27 strikeouts. In three starts with Round Rock, Ramos compiled a 0-1 record with a 3.18 ERA (11.1IP/4ER) and 10 strikeouts. Ramos will be assigned to Triple A Toledo. INJURY REHAB UPDATES: Le handed pitcher Daniel Norris made an injury rehab start with Double A Erie last night vs. Reading, earning the win a er throwing 6.2 innings and allowing three runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. In three injury rehab starts between Triple A Toledo and Erie, Norris has a 1-1 record with a 5.28 ERA (15.1IP/9ER) and 14 strikeouts.
