4 ATHLETE MEETING AND PACKET PICK-UP PROCESS 1. Pick up the Pre-Race Activities Check List and the Athlete Waiver befre entering the Cnference Center 2. Cnfirm yur bib number and write it n the Athlete Waiver and Check List 3. Sign the Athlete Waiver 4. Attend the Athlete Meeting 5. After the Meeting, receive a stamp n yur Check List n yur way ut as prf f attendance 6. Queue up fr the Packet Pick-Up with (1) cnfirmatin with cmplete QR cde, (2) ID, (3) stamped Check List, and (4) the signed Athlete Waiver 7. Receive yur race packet and cnfirm the items inside 8. Vlunteers will help yu put n yur athlete wristband (mandatry) 9. Receive yur t-shirt and drawstring bag 10. Put n yur number tatt (same as yur bib number) WHAT S IN YOUR ATHLETE PACKET? - Race Bib; Number Tatt; Race Number Stickers (helmet and bike frame); Swim Cap; a Tshirt; a Drawstring Bag - Relay Team: Swimmer will receive the swim cap, Cyclist will receive the Race Number Stickers, and Runner will receive the bib. Each team member will receive a set f number tatts, a Tshirt and a drawstring bag - Timing chip is NOT in yur packet. Yu will need t pick it up in persn n race mrning by the Transitin entrance. OLYMPIC DISTANCE BIKE COURSE TOUR SHUTTLE Part f the Olympic Distance bike curse is very technical and challenging. The curse tur is highly recmmended befre the race t help yu get familiar. If yu cannt catch the curse tur shuttle, please arrange time t check ut the bike curse n yur wn. Curse Tur Shuttle Schedule: Sept. 21 (Friday) 2 PM and 3 PM Sept. 22 (Saturday) 1 PM t 4:30 PM Every Half Hur. The last curse tur starts at 4:30 PM A curse tur will take abut 1.5 hurs. Shuttle Pick-Up & Drp-Off Lcatin: Outside f Gate 3 TRANSITION AREA SATURDAY BIKE RACKING - There is a 20-minute walk frm Gate 3 t the Transitin - It is required that Olympic Distance athletes (Individual and Relay) t rack the bicycles in Transitin n Saturday frm 11:30 AM - 6 PM. 7 SWIM 1.5 KM: - Water temperature will be arund Wetsuit is allwed fr Age Grup athletes, but nt required - N flatatin device allwed during the race - Please wear the race issued swim cap - All participants must put n 1 bdy tatt n each arm (left and right) prir t arriving at the swim start n race day (If yur tatts are brken, please find race staff at the Transitin Entrance fr bdy marking.) - All athletes must pick up their wn timing chip n race day mrning by the transitin entrance. - (2018 NEW RULE) Athletes will be queued based n their estimated swim finish time, regardless f what strke yu are swimming. The self-seeded starting rder is: Prfessinal Triathletes Paratriathletes Less than 28 minutes minutes minutes minutes minutes 51 minutes r lnger - Yur time starts when yu are in the water. It will nt give yu any advantage fr standing in a faster grup. Yu will nly be passed by the ther faster swimmers. 8 - Safety bats and lifeguards will be n curse. If yu need any help, please raise yur arm straight t get their attentin. D nt waive yur arm as it is the same mvement as swimming - Yu can hld n t the bat fr a rest if needed, but yu cannt mve frward - There will be a special needs table by swim exit fr must-have items after the swim, such as glasses r asthma inhalers. Please place yur items there BEFORE walking t the Swim Start in a bag with yur NAME AND RACE NUMBER ON IT. Items such as shes r prhibited items are nt allwed n the table. Race staff will remve anything that is nt allwed during the race - Once yu exit the swim, there will be a 680 meter warm up run n carpeted cncrete, where n shes will be allwed fr Age Grup triathletes - If yu have just jined triathln and this is yur first race in pen water, we highly recmmend that yu jin a triathln club fr training - Swim curse will be pen fr practice n Saturday (Sept. 22nd) 3 PM 5 PM (N athletes will be allwed t enter the water after 4:30 PM. Curse will be cleared at 5 PM.) - Swim Cut Off Time: 1 hur after the last grup starts swimming. 9 - N entertainment device is allwed, including music players, headphnes, etc. - N glass cntainers are allwed during the race, as well as sharp and fragile bjects that may cause harm t peple - (2018 NEW RULE) Yu may carry a cell phne in yur pcket, but it must be turned ff. It is fr urgent use nly. Once yu start using the cellphne, yu will be disqualified r this will indicate that yu have decided t drp ut - (2018 NEW RULE) Yu may use sprts camera such as GPr, but it must be attached t yur bike r wre n yur chest r n the helmet. Usage f any handheld device will result in disqualificatin Bike Curse Rules - It is the athlete s respnsibility t read the race infrmatin carefully and be familiar with the curse befre the race. Curse tur shuttles will be arranged Friday and Saturday afternn (Sept 21 and 22) r athletes can visit the curse n their wn - Please bey the cmpetitin and curse rules and fllw the instructins f the race staff and vlunteers. - Athlete must wear a helmet with the chin strap buckled thrughut the bike prtin f the race - This is a Nn-Drafting* race - Ride t the right, pass n the left. If yu are riding n the left r in the middle f the rad fr an extended time, yu may receive a warning and then time penalty if nt crrected - Ride with yur head up and pay attentin t the rad cnditin and athletes in frnt f yu. If yu dn t have a full view f the rad ahead, please slw dwn - Please give audible verbal warning t athletes arund yu when passing r stpping - If yu need t get ff the bike and walk up the hill, please stay t the right, d nt blck ther athletes - In case f minr injury r bike crash, please first mve ut f the bike curse t avid secnd-time injury - If yu need medical assistance, please ask a vlunteer fr help. The vlunteers will ntify the race medical team - In case f a flat tire, please first mve ut f the bike curse DO NOT blck ther athletes. Please bring an extra tube and prtable pump and be prepared t fix a flat tire n yur wn - (2018 NEW RULE) Yu can nly receive necessary utside assistance frm race staff, medical staff, r fellw triathletes wh are als racing, but n frward mtin can be made with the assistance. Receiving assistance frm family, friends, r spectatrs will result in disqualificatin - Safety first. Please stay fcused and be mindful f yur surrunding (spectatrs and ther athletes) - If yu decide t withdraw during the race, please infrm the referee r race staff and return yur timing chip 8

10 Bike Curse Infrmatin - There are 5 main technical sectins n the bike curse that require extra attentin - NARROW ROADS, SHARP TURNS, FAST DOWNHILLS. See curse map belw with sectins marked in pink. There will be vlunteers waving flags and blwing whistles befre the sectins, as well as rad warning signs - Please always pay attentin t the rad cnditin and ther athletes in frnt f yu. D nt ride with yur head dwn. If yu cannt have the full view f the rad cnditin ahead, please slw dwn - The first 2 km f the bike curse will take place inside the Garden Exp. Please pay attentin t the narrw sectins and sharp turns (marked pink n the map). Please als be mindful f the spectatrs in the park km will be n a flat and wide city bulevard. There are tw U- turns n the rad, please prepare t slw dwn km: Here yu will encunter the first sectin f climbs and dwnhill. Please be alert f the narrw rads and sharp turn. Be mindful f the slwer riders n the curse 9

11 km will be the secnd and mre challenging climb and fast dwnhill. There will be 2-way traffic. Please stay fcused, manage yur speed and be mindful f ther athletes - The dwnhill sectin after the U-turn n tp f the Qian Ling Muntain climb is a NO PASSING ZONE. Speed limit: 56 Km/h (35 mph). D nt ride in aer psitin in this sectin. There will be rad signs marking the end f the speed limit zne - At km, the curse will take yu thrugh the villages which have narrw sectins and sharp turns. Please pay EXTRA attentin t the rad and be mindful f the spectatrs - There is a cut ff pint at 16 km mark. (2018 NEW RULE) Cut ff time: 10 AM. If yu cannt make it thrugh this pint befre 10 AM, yu will nt be able t cntinue the climb n Qian Ling Muntain. Yu will turn back frm this pint t Garden Exp Park. Yu can still finish the run curse, but we will recrd yur race number and yur final result will be "DNF" (Did Nt Finish) - Overall bike cut ff time: 3 hurs after the last swim wave starts. If yu missed the verall cut ff, yu must take the sag wagn and return t the Transitin. It is fr yur safety, because the rad will re-pen t the public traffic after the cut ff. Yu can still finish the run curse, but we will recrd yur race number and yur final result will be DNF (Did Nt Finish) *Abut Nn-Drafting: Keep at least three bike lengths f clear space between yu and the cyclist in frnt. Drafting zne is abut 7-meter lng and 2-meter wide. A participant may enter the drafting zne f anther cyclist withut penalty, if he r she enters the drafting zne frm the rear, clses the gap and vertakes the leading cyclist all within n mre than 20 secnds. The cyclist wh has been "vertaken" must immediately mve t the side r t the rear and ut f the drafting zne f the passing cyclist 10

12 TRANSITION 2 - Must get ff bike BEFORE the dismunt line - Rack yur bike by the seat at yur designated spt - Bib number is required fr the run. Please wear it facing frnt RUN AND FINISH LINE 10KM - There are 5 Aid Statins n the run curse, water and sprts drink will be prvided - At 4 KM pint, there are 280 stairs t climb - Entertainment devices, headphnes, handheld devices are nt allwed - In case f high temperature, please stay hydrated - In case f emergency, please ask fr help frm the vlunteers r staff - Family and friends, including children, are nt permitted in the Finish Chute r the. If an athlete is caught breaking the rule, they will be disqualified. - Smile fr yur finish line pht, captured by FinisherPix - Be aware f ther athletes crssing the finish line behind yu - After crssing the finish line, each athlete will receive a finisher medal - Runner in the Relay Team, please remember t als pick up finisher medals fr yur team members - Befre exit the finish area, please return yur timing chip t the vlunteers. 13 PENALTY There will be referees n curse. - A Yellw Card indicates a warning. The athlete must adjust the miscnduct right away - A Blue Card means a 15-secnd stand dwn. If an athlete receives a Blue Card, the athlete must slw dwn and pull t the side f the curse and stand fr 15-secnd befre restarting - A Red Card means immediate disqualificatin. Tw Blue Cards equal a red card - Please serve the penalty at the spt and d nt try t argue the penalty until the after the race. If yu d like t cntest pst-race, please find ntify race staff at the infrmatin tent MEDICAL An experienced medical team will be at the event with medical persnnel statined at the Swim Start and Exit, Transitin, sectins n Bike Curse, at each aid statin n the run curse, and at the Finish Line. There will be ambulances dedicated t the event which will be psitined n curse. If yu need any medical assistance, please ask fr help frm the staff and vlunteers. The medical team can assistant with basic and minr injuries. Any athletes wh require further treatment will be transprted t nearby partner hspitals. If yu find yurself in this situatin, yur bike and race gear will be transprted t the race ffice in the Riverside Htel. POST RACE - Finish Line fd will be available in the athlete fd tent. Athlete nly - Massage Tent and Medical Tent are lcated clse t the Finish Line Area - Yur result will be available at the Result Tent - Awards ceremny will be held at 12:00 PM n the Center Stage. The fllwing Olympic Distance grups will be invited n the Center Stage t receive a trphy Tp 6 Finishers f Prfessinal Athletes First Crprate Challenge Relay Team Tp 3 Finishers f Paratriathlete Grup Tp 3 Finishers f each Age Grup (male and female triathletes will be awarded separately) First Team t finish (Male Relay, Female Relay, and Mixed Relay will be awarded separately) If yu cmpeted in bth Sprint and Olympic Individual race, yu are eligible fr the Duble Challenge prize. 14 ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ TRIATHLON Beijing Internatinal Triathln is part f the Escape Triathln Series. The tp finisher f each gender frm each age grup will be qualified fr the Escape Frm Alcatraz Triathln in the fllwing year. The qualifiers will receive an within ne week pst Beijing Tri. They will then need t cmplete the Escape Frm Alcatraz race registratin befre the deadline indicated in the . Only the Olympic Distance individual participants wh are 18 and abve are eligible fr Escape Frm Alcatraz Triathln qualificatin. FINAL REMINDER - Calculate yur travel time frm hme t the Garden Exp Park. Set yur alarm! - Study the curse map. They are available n the race website - Visit the curse befre race day. Get familiar with the curse cnditin - Get familiar with the rute frm Gate 3 t the Transitin. Shuld the need arise fr immediate medical treatment f an illness r injury; I hereby authrize emergency medical treatment fr me by apprpriate persnnel withut delay. I further grant t Fengtai, IMGSH, IMC, and their licensees the right, permissin, and authrity t use my name, vice, picture, r phtgraph, in any bradcast, telecast, cmmercial advertisement, prmtin, r ther accunt f the Triathln, and I waive any rights t future cmpensatin t which I might therwise have been entitled fr such use.
