If yu have any questins abut yur eligibility, cntact IPMBA at inf@ipmba.rg r Becming a certified IPMBA Instructr is basically a three step prcess: 1) cmplete an IPMBA Plice, EMS, r Security Cyclist Curse and btain IPMBA certificatin; 2) cmplete this IPMBA Instructr Applicatin packet, making sure that yu include all required materials, and submit it t IPMBA headquarters; and 3) successfully cmplete an IPMBA Instructr certificatin curse. Upn satisfactry cmpletin f the IPMBA Instructr Curse, yu will be issued an fficial IPMBA Instructr Certificate. Licensed law enfrcement fficers are certified as Plice Cyclist Instructrs and are authrized t teach the Plice and Security Cyclist Curses; EMS prviders are certified as EMS Cyclist Instructrs and are authrized t teach the EMS Cyclist Curse; and security fficers are certified as Security Cyclist Instructrs and are authrized t teach the Security Cyclist Curse. Certified instructrs are expected t maintain the high standards f instructin and safety demnstrated in the IPMBA Instructr Curse. Instructrs may retain their active status by 1) maintaining membership in IPMBA, and 2) teaching a minimum f ne Plice, EMS r Security Cyclist Curse every 24 mnths and submitting all required cursewrk t IPMBA in a timely manner. IPMBA Instructrs are als expected t actively prmte IPMBA membership t students during their classes. A vide presentatin will be prvided fr this purpse. 6 IPMBA Instructr Curse Applicatin Letter f Expectatins The Internatinal Plice Muntain Bike Assciatin (IPMBA) has been prviding wrld-class training t public safety cyclists since IPMBA prides itself n the quality f its training prgrams and hlds its instructrs t the highest standards f excellence. Befre yu graduate and becme certified as an IPMBA Instructr, yu must meet the criteria set frth belw. Yur Instructr Trainer must cnfidently give an affirmative answer t these questins t ensure that the integrity f the IPMBA Instructr cadre is kept at the highest standard. Cmpletin f this curse des nt guarantee certificatin; meeting these standards f excellence des. 1. D yu knw the material cntained in the Cmplete Guide t Public Safety Cycling? The material in the Cmplete Guide is a cmpilatin f knwledge and experience and represents thusands f hurs f public safety cycling experience. As IPMBA Instructrs, yu will teach the practical skills and knwledge cntained within this bk. The very lives f yur students and the public they serve may depend n yur grasp f that knwledge. T test yur knwledge, a written basic knwledge test will be administered n the first day f the Instructr Curse. Yu must scre at least a 90% in rder t advance in the curse. Balance, stamina and smth, flawless techniques are essential qualities that will win their cnfidence and mtivate them t ascend t higher levels. Yu will be expected t demnstrate the fllwing maneuvers n the first day f the class: the fur-ft Lck-t-Lck, fur-ft Offset Serpentine, the nine-ft Slw Bx, and curb/stair lft ascents and curb/stair descents. Yu must execute these mves successfully and lk cmfrtable and cnfident as yu perfrm them in rder t advance in the class. Can yu use multiple types f visual aids? As an instructr, yu have t be flexible in yur teaching style. Yu may be cnfrnted with settings that will require yu t vary yur usual teaching methds. T ensure that yu nt yur prps are the fundatin f yur curse, yu will be required t use at least tw different types f visual aids during mck teaching sessins. Yur ptins include, but are nt limited t, flipcharts, prjected cmputer based media, varius items f equipment/gear related t the tpic, etc. We suggest yu give thught t which tw yu will use prir t arriving at the training site. This way yu can btain the materials f yur chice in advance. Purchasing materials n-site may be cstly and lgistically difficult, cnsidering the time cnstraints f attending the curse during the day. As a candidate fr this curse, yu have demnstrated the excellence, the desire and the will t becme part f an elite grup f individuals: IPMBA Instructrs. It is the desire f this rganizatin t prvide yu with the mst cmprehensive, up-t-date and qualitycntrlled instructin available; and t enable yu t serve as a psitive rle mdel and representative f yur department and IPMBA.
