2 1. INTRODUCTION We kindly invite yu t the 15 th Flanders Internatinal Lifesaving Cmpetitin Open Water (FILCOW). The Flemish lifesaving federatin rganises these cmpetitins tgether with the Surf Club f Ostend, the Lifesaving Club f Ostend. 2. LOCALISATION Kningin Astridlaan 7-9, 8400 Ostende Belgium 3. 3 PROGRAMME (PROVISIONAL) Due t a significant tidal wrking in Ostend f apprximately 200m distance between high tide and lw tide it is nt pssible t make a detailed prgramme befrehand. Yu will receive a detailed prgramme befre the 30 th f June when the number f participants is knwn. Please be sure t register yur team in time. COMPETITION 4.1. Eligibility Fr the FILCOW athletes have t be brn befre There are three age grups in each gender: lder lder 4.2. Events Individual events (7 events): - Beach flags - Beach sprint - Beach run - Surf race - Bard race - Oceanman - Surf ski race Team events (4 events): - Rescue tube rescue - Bard rescue - Beach relay - Ocean(w)man relay In this cmpetitin 7 individual and 4 team events are scheduled. All events except fr the Beach run and Oceanman relay are held in series and finales. There will be a ranking per event. The results will be made up per gender, per event and in different age grups. 5 The event Beach flags is part f the Eurpean Beach Flags Tur. The Eur Beach Flags Tur is a Eurpean Tur event f the event Beach Flags. EBFT is funded in 2011 by Frederic Trtsa (Switzerland) and Rbert Hendriks (Netherlands). It is an pprtunity t cmpete against Eurpe s best Beach Flags athletes. Mre infrmatin abut the Eurpean Beach Flags Tur can be fund n: The EBFT 2018 will fllw the same Rulebk frm its last editin Classificatins Individual events There is a ranking per event in each gender and in three age grups. Team events There will be a ranking per event and the cmpsitin f each relay can therefre differ. Fr the relays we nly have tw different age grups: Yuth categry (nly athletes frm BY ) Open categry (all ages allwed) Each event will be held with series but we will nly run the A-finales 5. REGISTRATION 5.1 Terms f inscriptin - Athletes can participate all 7 events. - All athletes have t be member f an ILS recgnised Lifesaving Club. - In case the team cnsists f tw genders, they will be ranked in the male categry. - One club can register several teams, but within ne event an athlete can nly be member f ne team. - Teams f nly 2 cmpetitrs can cmpete in the Bard Rescue. Fr the ther teams we have a maximum f 4 Bard rescue teams per club in bth genders per categry. 6 5.2 Entry fee The registratin fee is 5 per individual event and 5 per team event fr the FILCOW and can be paid n the first day f cmpetitin. Freign teams can pay n lcatin. Yu can als transfer the ttal fee f yur club: IBAN: BE BIC cde: GKCCBEBB Accunt f RedFed with annuncement: FILCOW name f the club and number f participants. 5.3 Registratin n lcatin The registratin f the participants can be dne every day frm Friday the 6 th f July at 7.30 AM until Sunday the 8 th f July at AM, but shuld be dne ne hur befre the start f yur first cmpetitin. The registratin ffice will be at the beach side in the tents f the rganisatin in Beach Area 1 (see Cmpetitin Areas). Nte! At each event yu shuld marshal half an hur befre the start f the first heat with the appinted referee fr the Marshalling. All heats f ne event will be marshalled tgether. 6. RULEBOOK The mst recent Technical rules f the ILS rulebk ( will be applied at all the events. 7. CRAFT RedFed will nt prvide an equipment pl. It is hwever pssible t rent craft befrehand. Yur wn craft must be in gd state s that injury and danger is eliminated fr all participants. Yur craft must be accrding t the standards f the ILS-Rulebk. There is a pssibility t leave the craft n the beach during the weekend. There will be a security team during the night f Saturday n Sunday. Leaving yur craft is hwever at yur wn risk. 7 8. SECURITY PROCEDURES Drwning preventin RedFed will prvide a Rescue Team in and ut f the water. There will be several lifeguards in psitin n the beach and 3 bats at sea. An xygen prviding system and a defibrillatr are psitined in the First Aid Pst at the Registratin Office. Fr safety reasns the wearing f a high visibility FILCOW-lycra will be mandatry during the cean events (nt fr the beach events). The visibility will be much higher. We have made them withut a date s yu can use them year after year. 8 Cancelling events The chief referee can, after deliberatin with ther judges, the rganising cmmittee and the respnsible Lifeguards, decide t cancel the cmpetitin r events due t severe circumstances. The club caches hwever remain respnsible t judge if certain cnditins are t difficult fr the members f their team. We appreciate yur effrt t accmpany yur yungest r less skilled athletes with skilled athletes n a rescue bard r in a surf ski. A safety handbk will be send t yu after yur inscriptin. 9. OFFICIALS T ensure a gd cmpetitin we ask the Belgian teams t prvide the fllwing number f fficials - 3 athletes = 1 fficial - 11 athletes = 2 fficials - 21 athletes = 3 fficials Freign teams are nt bliged, but may prvide fficials. We are mre than happy t welcme them in ur team f fficials. Registratin f the fficials can be dne n the registratin frm. 10.
