The night belonged to Max Stassi who went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double and eight RBIs. Michael Burgess open the second with a home run to right field and, three batters later, Stassi clubbed his second pro grand slam - a laser shot over the fence in straightaway center. The Hooks tacked on six more in the third - a frame highlighted by Jonathan Meyer s two-run blast to left. Everyone in the Corpus Christi Nine notched a hit. The club went 6-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Ruben Alaniz improved to 4-7 on the season after tossing six shutout frames. He permitted five hits and two walks while striking out one. Tyler Rahmatulla s RBI single off Kenny Long in the eighth broke up the shutout bid. Carlos Quevedo authored a scoreless ninth, closing out Corpus Christi s third consecutive victory. 2 PAGE 2 MAD MAX: C Max Stassi notched a career-high four hits last night and tied the club record for RBIs in a single game. Stassi s first grand slam as a pro was April 21, 2011, against Lancaster. Stassi was 3 for his last 37 prior to last night s game and hadn t homered since his debut with the Hooks on May 2 against Midland. His grand poke in the second was Corpus Christi s second slam of the season. George Springer accomplished the feat on Memorial Day in a 14-4 rout of Arkansas. Michael Burgess established the club record for RBIs when he notched eight on May 13 against San Antonio. He was 3-for-5 with 2 home runs and a double in the contest. ROSS RETURNS: The Astros optioned veteran starting pitcher Ross Seaton to Corpus Christi. A fan-favorite at Whataburger Field, Seaton has struggled at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, going 2-6 with a 8.64 ERA in 11 appearances and 10 starts. He struck out 26 against 25 walks while allowing 11 home runs. Seaton was removed from Houston s 40-man roster and has since cleared waivers. He was the Opening Day starter for Corpus Christi this year, tossing 5 innings of 2-run ball against the Cardinals en route to the victory. A 3rd-round (supplemental) pick of Houston in 2008 out of Second Baptist in Houston, Seaton led the 2012 Hooks in starts (25) and IP (146) for 2nd consecutive season. He was 8-8 with 4.07 ERA & 1 CG Ks against 31 BBs. Seaton also led CC in ERA & WHIP (1.27), ranking 2nd in Ks. WAVE OF THE FUTURE: Major League Baseball released rosters for the All-Star Futures Game at Citi Field in New York. Former Hook George Springer and reigning Texas League Manager of the Year, Keith Bodie, represent the Astros, along with Lancaster 2B Delino DeShields, Jr. The game's brightest prospects will be showcased Sunday, July 14, with the U.S taking on the World. The rosters for both teams were set by Major League Baseball, with input from the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League clubs. For the first time, fans determine the final player on the U.S. and World Team rosters by casting their votes in the All-Star Sunday Futures Finalists ballot. There are five candidates for each team, and voting ends on Sunday at 10:59 p.m. One of the five Futures Finalists for the World team is shortstop Carlos Correa, the Astros No. 2 prospect. TUCKER & HALLOCK TO CC: OF Preston Tucker and LHP Kyle Hallock joined the Hooks yesterday from Lancaster. Tucker, who currently stands as the top run-producer in the minor leagues, hit.326 with 18 doubles, 1 triple, 15 home runs and 74 RBIs in 75 games for the JetHawks. A California League All-Star, he leaves the circuit ranking among the leaders in batting average (4th), home runs (t-5th), hits (97, t-1st), runs scored (61, t-2nd) and total bases (162, 1st). Tucker featured a.928 OPS, working 29 walks against 45 strikeouts. A 7th-round pick in last year s draft out of the University of Florida, Tucker owns 2 6-RBI performances. He last accomplished the feat on Sunday vs. Rancho Cucamonga, belting a pair of 2-run home runs. He was named CL Player of the Week for May 27 to June 3, going 11-for-29 with 12 runs, 4 doubles, 3 home runs and 19 RBIs. Tucker played 42 games for Tri-City last season, batting.321 with 7 doubles, 8 home runs and 38 RBIs. During his senior season, the left-handed slugger hit.321 and led the Gators with 78 hits. He was second on the club in runs (57), RBIs (50), walks (35), doubles (17) and homers (16). Tucker was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2012 after being a first-team choice in 2011 and a second-team pick in He was the 2009 SEC Co-Freshman of the Year. Tucker holds school records for games played (265), games started (259), total bases (596), at bats (1,035), hits (341), RBIs (258), doubles (70) and is second in long balls (57). Halllock is now making his 4th stop in Thru 20 appearances (6 starts) between Quad Cities, Lancaster and Oklahoma City, Hallock is 5-1 with a 4.10 ERA. He has struck out 31 batters while walking 22 in 59.1 IP. His time with the RiverCats was limited to 1 perfect frame of relief. Hallock made 9 appearances and 1 start with the RedHawks, going 1-0 with a 3.73 ERA. He last appeared on Friday for the JetHawks, tossing three shutout innings. The southpaw permitted just 2 hits and struck out 4. A 10th-round pick in 2011 out of Kent State, Hallock is starting tonight for the Hooks.
