Rico Noel set the tone with a line drive single to open the home first. After a knock by Corey Spangenberg, the Missions executed a double steal. Luis Alvarez, making his Double-A debut, sailed the throw to second into centerfield, allowing Noel to score. With one away, Ruben Alaniz struck out Johan Limonta but the decisive pitch got past Alvarez, enabling Spangenberg to race home from third. Lee Orr made it 3-0 with a two-out single into left. The Missions would go on to hit six doubles over the next three innings, knocking Alaniz out of the game in the fourth. Kyle Hallock restored order for Corpus Christi, logging 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. T.J. Geith authored a eighth inning. Erik Castro hit a lead-off homer in the second off Eddie Bonine.
