LHP Jose Quintana, who is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA (3 ER/21.0 IP) over his last three starts, takes the mound for the White Sox. Following this series, the Sox will take a seven-game trip to Boston (7/7-10) and Cleveland (7/11-13) to end the fi rst half. Chicago went 4-7 on their last trip to Minnesota (0-4), Baltimore (1-2) and Toronto (3-1) from 6/ TONIGHT S STORYLINES The White Sox have won 15 of the last 19 games vs. Seattle and are 28-7 since 2010 (10 series wins). Chicago is vs. teams above.500 this season and against teams with losing records. White Sox starters have allowed two earned runs or less in eight of the last 11 games (seven quality starts). Chicago has won four of the last six games vs. Felix Hernandez he has allowed four-plus runs fi ve times during that span. Jose Quintana has allowed one earned run in his last 18.0 IP. Dayan Viciedo gave the Sox an early 1-0 lead with a solo shot in the fourth inning Jose Abreu (No. 27) and Paul Konerko (No. 5) each added two-run homers in the fi fth and eighth. Sale allowed just one run on six hits with 12 strikeouts and no walks Sale and Juan Pizarro are the only pitchers in team history with four games of 10-plus strikeouts and no walks. SALE S K ZONE Chris Sale recorded his 14th career 10-plus strikeout game last night, the third-highest total in club history behind Ed Walsh (17) and Juan Pizarro (15). His seven career outings with 12 or more strikeouts are a franchise record, and tied with Yu Darvish for the most such performances in baseball since ABREU CLIMBS THE CHARTS Jose Abreu hit his 27th home run of the season last night, extending his hitting streak to a season-high 18 games. The streak is tied for the sixth-longest by a White Sox rookie Earl Sheely (1921), Art Shires (1929) and Mike Kreevich (1936) are tied for third with 19-game hitting streaks. Abreu (73 games) needs three home runs in his next fi ve games to become the fastest player in major-league history to hit 30 career homers Rudy York reached the 30-homer mark in his fi rst 79 career games. ROOKIE SENSATION Jose Abreu has won American League Player of the Month honors for April and Rookie of the Month in April and June, becoming the fi rst player in team history to win multiple rookie awards in a single season. Among Abreu s other accomplishments in 2014: 27 HR are the most in major-league history by a player in his fi rst 73 career games, and 69 RBI are tied with Wally Berger (1930) and Joe DiMaggio (1936) for the fi fth-highest total. On pace to record 50 home runs and 128 RBI the 50 homers would break the Sox record set by Albert Belle in 1998 and the majorleague rookie record of 49 set by Mark McGwire in His 27 homers are the third-most before the All-Star break in club history behind Frank Thomas (32, 1994) and Jim Thome (30, 2006). 27 HR are tied for second-highest total in Sox history by a rookie. Is tied for the MLB lead with 10 games of three-plus RBI. COUNTDOWN TO COOPERSTOWN Frank Thomas will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 27 in Cooperstown, N.Y. joining Thomas in the Class of 2014 are pitchers Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux and managers Bobby Cox, Tony La Russa and Joe Torre. The Big Hurt, the White Sox all-time leader in most offensive categories, is one of four players in major-league history with a career.300 average, 500 home runs, 1,500 RBI and 1,000 runs scored and 1,500 walks, joining Mel Ott, Babe Ruth and Ted Williams. WHITE SOX VS. SEATTLE MARINERS Chicago and Seattle play six more times this season, including two games at U.S. Cellular Field and four at Safeco Field.
